→ ABOUT ME
I am an aspiring writer. I've been working on my first novel since 2005, but I've been a writer almost as far back as I can remember. I wrote fanfiction for various movies and books from a really young age. I was reading authors such as Stephen King, Orson Scott Card and Michael Crichton when I was still in elementary school. My reading level was always beyond my years. Around the same time, I tested as gifted and was taking special classes as Arizona State University for summers, before I lost interest in what was being taught, when my right brain began to take over my left. In seventh grade, I began writing little research papers, simply because I could and wrote more than was asked for on the ones that were assigned. My teacher that year told me that I have a gift for writing, which I didn't really begin to embrace until after I was out of high school, though I'd continued to write stories involving my close friends all through out my final educational years. I have other talents in theatre, music, and dance, but for some reason or another, fate decided that all I need to do is write. My personal journal is
[info]hotfuss.

→ ABOUT THIS JOURNAL
This journal, first and foremost is a character development journal (CDJ). I write a lot of prompts that surround my rpg characters in order to flesh out their in game situations and write things that they wouldn't be put through in the games I play in. I also post a lot of my novel research, which lately has consisted of Edwardian history, psychology, medicine and World War 1. Snippets of my work are also posted in here, though I've started using google docs to save the full chapters. Chances are, unless I know you, I will not be adding you to this journal. I've been dealing with plagiarists since I began roleplaying. I don't trust very many people with my writing and to be perfectly honest, I don't like what I write at first. It takes a long editing process of a scene for me to get it where I want it to be. Rarely do I write something that isn't changed. I'm insecure about a lot of my writing, simply because it's not the best it could and will be and I don't want to be judged on first draft material. Also in this journal, are bits of my 2007 NANO project, which I met the goal of and completed.

→ ABOUT MY WRITING AND STYLE
I roleplay as a way to figure out my characters. I'm rather well known for my character, Julian Derrick, in the Harry Potter fandom. Not long after I created him in 2004, he became the muse for my novel. Before I got into roleplaying, I was writing Harry Potter fan fiction, so it was just natural that I would start there in roleplaying. I've tried other styles: PB, I did celeb rp for a couple weeks, before I felt it was too weird. But, I've never found anything else that has stuck as well as Harry Potter. There is something about Rowling's fantasy world that works as a good background for writing. My novel work has nothing to do with Harry Potter. The only connection that Rowling has with my books are common last names and the fact that pureblood society is quite like Victorian and Edwardian England's, because it was an easy transition. In roleplaying, I don't generally play Rowling's canon characters unless there is an aspect of them that is similar or parallels one of my own characters such as Bellatrix LeStrange or Barty Crouch, jr. I'm interested in darker characters, because the characters I write are psychologically dark. My influences, which have begun to show up in the more finished writing, are Chuck Palahniuk, Irvine Welsh, and Bret Easton Ellis. Authors who touch on the darker and more brutal side of humanity. Overtime, I've started to read more historical fiction in an attempt to grasp the basic style of the genre, which has influenced my work and has helped it become a sort of in between.
